Global Financial Planning Organisation Appoints Gerhardt Meyer as Chairperson-Elect

02 February 2018: Johannesburg – Gerhardt Meyer, CFP®, Head of Governance for the Wealth Division of Old Mutual South Africa has been appointed chairperson-elect of Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) effective, April 2018. Meyer will then serve another year as Chairperson to FPSB’s Board of Directors in 2019.

Commenting on his appointment Meyer said, “It has been a great privilege to serve on FPSB’s board for the past two years and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be elected to play a leadership role in the board over the next two years. The financial planning profession is developing globally at a rapid pace and it is a fantastic time to be closely involved in these developments. I look forward to continuing my engagement with FPSB and its global community.”

Together with FPSB’s Board of Directors, Meyer will be responsible for guiding the organisation’s administration of its public interest mission and vision; developing governing policies that address the broadest levels of all organisational decisions and situations; identifying needs and advocating on behalf of FPSB’s membership; and overseeing organisational performance and providing strategic guidance to FPSB’s CEO.

Said Noel Maye, FPSB CEO “Gerhardt has been active in FPSB activities for many years, including as an FPSB Council delegate, chairperson of FPSB’s Regulations Advisory Panel, and as a member of our Board of Directors.”

Meyer has been a member of various committees and has previously held position of chairperson of the Pension Lawyers Association and of the Financial Planning Institute (FPI). He is currently a director at Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) and chairperson of its Regulatory Advisory Panel as well as its Audit Committee.

About Gerhardt Meyer, CFP®,   
Gerhardt Meyer, CFP®, is head of governance for Old Mutual Wealth in South Africa. He started his financial services career at Old Mutual in 1998. In 2002, Meyer joined Acsis and held many roles at Acsis, including managing governance, business development, product development and strategy. He also served on some Acsis subsidiary boards and was chairperson of the retirement funds. Meyer returned to Old Mutual in 2013.
