Trademarks and Domain Protection

Standards department recognises the protection of the rights to our designation and trademarks as one of its primary activities. We will conduct ongoing investigations into the use of the various trademarks by members (as well as non members or inactive members) during the audit process.

The wrongful use or the incorrect use of these marks can lead to legal action as the FPI is contractually bound to act on the misuse of these marks. Contraventions of the use of the CFP® mark must be reported to the FPSB (per the FPSB Affiliation Agreement) and the AFP™ and RFP™ marks, owned by the FPI, are protected by SA law regarding the authorised use of these marks. The CFP® mark is used on contract as authorised by the FPSB in Denver Colorado, USA. The FPI of Southern Africa has, in terms of the Affiliation Agreement as alluded to above, the duty to protect this mark in South Africa.
CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and ® are trademarks owned outside the U.S. by Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa is the marks licensing authority for the CFP Marks in South Africa through agreement with FPSB.

Please refer to the complete
guide for the use of the CFP® Mark and Annexture A for the examples of the correct use of the CFP® Mark.
