Financial Planning as a profession is one of the fastest growing professions worldwide.  When the first Board of the then ILPA, now the Financial Planning Institute (FPI), met in 1981, it had a clear vision. That vision was to build a recognised and respected profession for Financial Planners primarily through the establishment of the CFP® Certification process. That vision has not changed.

In addition, to allow candidates the opportunity to obtain professional membership of the FPI, a career path was established with the introduction of the RFP™ Professional and AFP™ Professional levels, ultimately on the path to becoming a CFP® Professional.

In fact more than ever before, given the complexities, uncertainties and confusion the consumer faces on a daily basis, financial planning professionals will be called upon to help them achieve their life goals through the principles and practice of sound professional financial planning. The financial plan compiled by the professional Financial Planner is what differentiates professional Financial Planners from the myriad of other providers in the sector.
