ASSOCIATE FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (AFP™)
The FPI has partnered with a number of providers and currently recognises the following qualifications for membership purposes as an ASSOCIATE FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (AFP™):
B.Com Financial Planning (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University)
B.Com Financial Planning (University of Johannesburg)
National Certificate in Financial Planning (Milpark Business School)

The FPI’s AFP™ Professional Board Assessment is embedded in these qualifications and having obtained the qualification and passed the board assessment through one of the above institutions, the learner will be invited to take up membership with the FPI. The minimum relevent industry experience requirement for AFP™ professional membership is 2 years.

In addition, the AFP™ Professional Board Assessment is available to individuals who are already in possession of an NQF Level 6 qualification (degree or equivalent diploma) and who wish to take up membership with the FPI.
Examinations take place twice a year in February and October.
