Information about the Regulatory Exam Trials

The FPI, as an appointed Examination Body for the Regulatory Exams will be conducting exam trials for the Health Care Benefits and Participatory Interests in Collective Investment Schemes Regulatory Exams and urgently requires candidates to participate in these trials.

The purpose of the trials is to ensure that the questions that will make up the item banks will produce results that are fair, valid and reliable. The focus of the trials will be on question design and candidates may be asked for feedback but no results will be given to candidates.  Participating in these trials will allow candidates the experience of what the exams will be like without the accompanying fear that is normally associated with writing an exam. Results will not be issued to candidates as these are not complete exams as only samples of questions are being tested. Results will also not be made public or provided to the employers/FSP’s. The experience will however stand candidates in good stead when the exams are written after roll out. An additional benefit will apply when the free pilot exams are conducted as trial candidates will be offered the opportunity of writing these exams free of charge and these results will be issued/valid.

Process to participate in the Exam Trials

Candidates should be drawn from the following sectors:

  • Banks
  • Insurance Companies
  • Independent Financial Advisors
  • Investment managers
Candidates work experience should ideally include:
  • 1 year
  • 3 years
  • 5 years
  • 10+ years
The categories of candidates should be Categories 1 and 2
The Representatives grouping should include:
  • Working under supervision
  • Any product category
  • 0 – many years of work experience

Should you wish to participate in the exam trials, please CLICK HERE to register via the FSB website.  All the trials which are taking place are listed on the registration form and candidates would need to select the date and venue. The first round of trials will be held on 24 February at the Alexander Forbes offices in Sandton and Momentum offices in Centurion. These venues have been selected in order to provide candidates with convenient access to venues in Gauteng.
